Suggested Duration: 1:30 hours


General Aim:

The aims of the lesson are:



(1) to provide students with the linguistic means needed when they go

shopping, which is a big part of our everyday lives.



(2) They will be offered the opportunity to practise all areas of language

and language skills on the topic of shopping (vocabulary, grammar and

pronunciation, speaking, listening, reading, writing).


What Do You Assume The Learners Already Know?

It is assumed that the students are familiar

with the clothing items from previous years.

However, they will be offered the chance to

revise this vocabulary before preceding

to the introduction of the new material.



Relationship with Other Lessons:


What came before?


In the previous lessons, the students learned the various types of shops

(e.g. greengrocer's, butcher's, etc), as well as asking and giving directions

to places. They also revised the prepositions of places (e.g. opposite, next to, etc.).




What’s coming next?


In the following lessons, the students will be taught language related to

going to restaurants and cafes like ordering a meal or a coffee.

Expected Outcomes



By the end of the lesson, the students should be able to use vocabulary

In general, the learners will be able to put into practice all the new linguistic

items they will have acquired in this lesson so that they will be able to communicate

if they find themselves in such a situation.
